First edition. This is one of Daudet’s last novels, published in instalments in *L’Illustration* from October 1894 to the end of January 1895. One of 200 copies on Holland paper, numbered and initialled by the publisher. A copy bound in its day by Émile Carayon, with all margins intact and complete with its cover.
