Description
DUMAS (Alexandre). Stockholm, Fontainebleau and Rome. A dramatic trilogy on the life of Christine, in five acts in verse, with a prologue and epilogue. Paris, Barba, 1830. In-8, long-grain green half-maroquin with small corners, covers of green maroquin-patterned paper, gilt fillet framing the edges, plain spine decorated with double gilt fillets, yellow edges (contemporary binding). First edition, featuring a beautiful folding frontispiece lithographed by Charlet after Raffet. A copy bound for Prince Maurice Dietrichstein (1775–1864), tutor to ‘l’Aiglon’. All the books in his library were bound uniformly and bear, as here, his handwritten signature on the front endpaper. The volume appeared in our 1997 sale under lot no. 81.
