FABRE (Ferdinand). Abbé Tigrane, Candidate for the Papacy. Paris, Alphonse Lemerre, 1873. In-12, Jansenist purple morocco, triple gilt fillet on the inside, burgundy morocco linings, burgundy moiré endpapers, gilt edges, cover and spine, slipcase (Durvand). First edition of the author’s masterpiece; the author was himself a former seminarian.
A very fine copy in a Durvand-lined binding, enhanced by an autograph letter signed by the author (3 pp. in-8, on vellum, in brown ink).
