MÉRIMÉE (Prosper). *Colomba*. Paris, Magen and Comon, 1841. In-8, fawn half-calf with corner pieces, plain spine with decoration, speckled edges (contemporary binding). First edition. This famous tale of a Corsican vendetta is followed by two previously published short stories: *La Vénus d’Ille* and *Les Âmes du purgatoire*. A copy from the library of the Russian tsars at Tsarskoye Selo Palace, bearing an ex-libris stamp; subsequently owned by André and Simone Maurois, with an ex-libris, and by Xavier de Planhol, with an ex-libris.
