Scheuring, 1859. 8vo, blue half-percaline Bradel binding, spine decorated with a gilt fleur-de-lis, untrimmed (late 19th-century binding). First edition of Villiers de l’Isle-Adam’s first proper collection, published at the author’s own expense and carefully printed by Louis Perrin on laid paper. It contains *Fantaisies nocturnes*, *Hermosa*, *Les Préludes* and *Chant du calvaire*.
An autographed copy sent by the author to Émile de Girardin (1802–1881), the founder of the daily newspaper *La Presse*.
