BASHŌ. Haikai by Bashō and his disciples. Paris, International Institute for Intellectual Co-operation, 1936. In-8, paperback, untrimmed. First edition of the French translation, by Kuni Matsuo and Steinilber-Oberlin, of this anthology of haiku by Matsuo Bashō (1644–1694) and his disciples.
It is illustrated with a portrait of Bashō on the frontispiece and four woodblock prints by Foujita, enhanced with stencil work.
One of 55 copies printed on ‘japon impérial’, the only large-format paper used.
