GIDE (André). *L'Immoraliste*. Paris, Mercure de France, 1902. In-16, Jansenist midnight blue morocco, bronze morocco linings, moiré endpapers, double endpapers, gilt edges, cover, edged slipcase (Dubois d’Enghien-Dooms). First edition of one of Gide’s most significant works, which ‘established his originality and mastery in the eyes of the literate public’ (En français dans le texte, no. 330). A unique print run of 300 copies on Arches laid paper. A typographically imitated edition of the second edition of Goethe’s *Faust*, translated by Nerval, known as the ‘blue edition’, published in 1835. A very fine copy. From the Raoul Simonson library, with bookplate.
