Description
GRACQ (Julien). *Liberté grande*. Paris, José Corti, 1946. In-8, black half-maroquin with bands, ochre paper boards, gilded and palladium-plated fillet work, plain spine, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine, slipcase (P.-L. Martin). First edition.
Frontispiece: a woodcut by André Masson.
One of 50 copies on Marais vellum, the second-highest quality paper after 23 Arches.
*Liberté grande* is Julien Gracq’s only collection of poems; it was the subject of two expanded editions in 1958 and 1969. The poems collected here, written between 1941 and 1943, had already appeared, in some cases, in magazines associated with Surrealism, such as *Fontaine* or *Les Quatre Vents*.
A very fine copy prepared by Pierre-Lucien Martin.
From the library of Xavier de Planhol, with bookplate.
