Description
RICTUS (Jean). *Les Soliloques du Pauvre*. Paris, Sevin et Rey, 1903. Small square 8vo, havana half-maroquin with corner pieces, gilt head, untrimmed, illustrated cover (Blanchetière-Bretault). First illustrated edition, partly original, featuring an ornate cover and 110 black-and-white illustrations, including 18 insert plates, 15 headpieces, 64 in-text illustrations and 14 end-piece illustrations by Steinlen. One of 100 copies printed on Arches paper, this one unregistered. Autographed dedication by the author, dated June 1903, countersigned by the artist, to Eugène Rey. Included is an original lithograph by Steinlen, *Paris la nuit*, a very fine print from the first state, framed. Crauzat, no. 624.
