Jules-Charles LE BOZEC (1898-1973) for HB QUIMPER. "Meditation". White glazed earthenware bust resting on a large square terrace. Signed HB Qimper and LE BOZEC in black on the terrace, signed and titled in hollow. h. 53 cm. Some enamelling defects when fired. This bust of a Breton woman wearing a Tregorroise headdress, known as a "toukenn", is similar to Jorj ROBIN's Bigoudène accroupie published in 1927 by HB Quimper. These two artists from the Seiz Breur art group, who met in 1924 at the ENSBA in Paris, offer us a nuanced vision of Breton women.
