Description
A gilded wood "cordage" TABOURET with a base joined by a brace forming a knot. Padded seat upholstered in burgundy velvet centred with a medallion in floral fabric. Napoleon III period. Height: 45 cm - Diameter: 63 cm This stool was designed by the master upholsterer A.M.E. Fournier. He was based at 109 Boulevard Beaumarchais from 1850, then at 12 Boulevard des Capucines in 1867. A similar model is kept at the Metropolitan Museum in New York in the 19th-century galleries, donated in 1985 by Arthur and Madeleine Lejwa, another at the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris and several others at the Palais de Compiègne.
