Description
DASSON Henry (1825 - 1896). Circular pedestal table in veneered wood resting on three legs terminating in ormolu sabots and joined by a brace, the upper marble top underlined by an astragalus, supported by six ormolu columns imitating bamboo. Stamped by Henry Dasson. Napoleon III period, after a model by Adam WEISWEILER H. 75 cm, D. 35 cm. Slight traces of use, defect in the veneer of the strut. Known for his furniture with luxurious marquetry, Henry Dasson was the son of a Parisian shoemaker, first listed as a watchmaker and then as a bronze-maker. At the 1878 Universal Exhibition, he presented furniture that would establish his reputation as a cabinetmaker. Known for his elegance, refinement and luxurious materials, Dasson produced works in the Louis XVI style, such as this pedestal table stamped Henry Dasson.
