BERTIN Jean-Victor (1762–1842) “Shepherd and Shepherdess by a River” c. 1825–1830 Oil on original canvas, 32.5 x 45.5 cm. Marked on the reverse of the canvas: “Moyon / 5 Rue de l’Université / Dealer in paintings / and drawings of the Modern School / Paris” Moyon was one of the principal dealers in Bertin’s works from 1825 to 1837. Possibly one of the 30 lots of Bertin’s paintings from the sale of his collection held from 16 to 20 January 1838. This painting will be included in the catalogue raisonné of Jean-Victor Bertin currently being prepared by Messrs Damien Dumarquez and Jean-Louis Litron.
