Description
VICAIRE (Gabriel) and BEAUCLAIR (Henri)].— *Les Déliquescences*. Decadent poems by Adoré Floupette. With a biography by Marius Tapora. Byzance [Paris], Published by Lion Vanné [Léon Vannier], 1886. In-12, marbled paper Bradel binding, cover preserved, untrimmed, double title page. 77 pp, [1 f]. Second edition published six weeks after the first. First edition featuring the hilarious preface by Marius Tapora, second-class pharmacist (47 pp.). Many readers believed in the existence of Floupette, who delightfully parodied the authors of the time, including Verlaine, Mallarmé, Rimbaud and Tristan Corbière. In their dedication (the recipient’s name has been erased), the two authors reveal themselves by signing with their own names.
