Description
SIMSON (Robert). Euclid’s Data, improved and expanded. Translated from the English, and accompanied by a collection of geometric problems solved according to the ancient analytical method, by Johann Christoph Schwab. Stuttgart, Cotta, 1780. In-12, half-basane with slightly crushed corners, ribbed spine decorated with gilt fillets, scattered foxing, corners and caps rubbed.

Robert Simson (1687–1768), a Scottish geometer, spent his entire career at the University of Glasgow. Almost all his research focused on ancient geometry, and he ‘is best known for his attempts to solve Euclid’s porisms’ (Larousse).
