1/ [LE FEBVRE (Philippe)].— A collection of various literary works in verse and prose, including *L’Histoire de mademoiselle de Cerni*, translated from the German. By Monsieur L.P.L.C.R. A Camberi, & is to be found in Lyon, published by J.B. Reguilliat, 1761. Small 8vo, contemporary light-coloured half-calf with small corners, speckled edges, spine slightly rubbed. [1 f.], 188 pp (irregular pagination, as the printer seemed to have a problem with the hundreds). First edition of this collection of miscellaneous pieces. Although it does not bear the ex-libris, this volume comes from the Starhemberg princes’ library. It is bound in a style characteristic of many volumes from that library and, furthermore, bears the equally characteristic ‘O.B.’ label on the first blank leaf.

London, 1774. 4 parts in 2 in-12 volumes, in contemporary fawn half-calf, smooth spines decorated with embossed fleurons and gilt fillets, minor scuffs, small green vellum corners, marbled edges. [2 ff], 170 pp., [2 ff], 247 pp; [2 ff], 244 pp, [2 ff], 207 pp. The translator (who was long believed to be the author) of this novel of romantic and heroic adventures is Carpentier.
