(19th-century auction catalogues) – 5 volumes - Catalogue of rare and valuable books from the library of the late Count de Mac Carthy-Reagh. Paris, De Bure, 1815. 2 volumes in-8, XXXVIII, 583 pp and [2 ff], 473 pp, contemporary brown half-basane, cap covers torn off, one hinge split. Two folding engraved plates, one of which is in red and black. This considerable library was divided into over 5,500 lots, 600 of which were printed on vellum! The prices are all noted in ink in the margins, sometimes accompanied by a brief comment or clarification. Some copies contain a 16-page booklet entitled: ‘Ordre des vacations’. This is missing here. Ex-libris (repeated) by Georges Heilbrun. - Catalogue of rare and valuable books comprising the library of Mr E.-F.-D. Ruggieri. Paris, 1873 (Reprint, 1998). (some damage to the binding). 63 plates reproducing book bindings. A comprehensive public auction catalogue featuring books from the Romantic and ‘modern’ periods. This collection, sold in 1809 lots, is notable for its richness in these fields, particularly for the presence of numerous Romantic works in paperback in mint condition—an exceptional state of preservation. One lot comprised no fewer than 108 copies of *Physiologies*, all described. The Lenseigne catalogue also covers Romantic and ‘modern’ books; it comprises 2,183 lots with 12 plates and facsimiles.
