New edition, illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of Louis XIV and 57 in-text portraits of the kings of France, and 5 blank frames. Included: A Chronological Summary of the History of France during the Reigns of Louis XIII and Louis XIV, intended as a sequel to that by F. de Mezeray. Amsterdam, David Mortier, 1728. Quarto, fawn calfskin, decorated raised-rib spine (spine faded, corners crushed). New, expanded edition of Mezeray’s biography. Illustrated with portraits of Louis XIII and Louis XIV. Bound between pages 320 and 321 is Talon’s handwritten address to the king in 1648, referred to at the bottom of the second column on p. 321 (3 pp., quarto).
