[18th-century auction catalogue]. Rare books (belonging to Monsieur Le Camus de Limare)... By Guillaume de Bure, the younger. Paris, G. de Bure, 1786. In-8, XII, 259 pp, Bradel-bound in black morocco-embossed half-basane with small corners, plain spine decorated with gilt fillets and fleurons. A fine copy of one of the very first public auction catalogues devoted primarily to natural history. As in almost all copies, the printed list of prices and the index of authors are missing here. All prices are noted in the margins in a contemporary hand. “This catalogue is remarkable for its fine and very extensive selection of the finest works on natural history, which were sold at exorbitant prices” (Peignot).
