Description
MENIER chocolate, ‘Beware of counterfeits’, circa 1895. Poster signed by Firmin BOUISSET (1859–1925), a painter, poster artist and engraver who specialised in subjects featuring children; he illustrated books, including *La Petite Ménagère* in 1890. His work was published in *Les Maîtres de l’Affiche* and *L’Estampe moderne*. He also worked for other brands such as LU and Maggi. According to some sources, the little girl in the poster is Yvonne, Firmin Bouisset’s own daughter. Published by OMNIUM Français de Publicité, 46 rue Basfroi, Paris. An exceptional, very large-format advertising poster (110 x 163 cm), mounted on metal and framed. Shows signs of age, marks and losses; see detailed photographs.
