Publisher’s binding in dark brown coarse-grained morocco, spine and covers with gilt titles, decorated with an enamelled plaque on each volume, based on a design by Jean Dunand, executed by Engel. The cloisonné copper medallions were handcrafted by the enameller Claessens. The work is illustrated with engravings both within and outside the text by Charles Fouqueray, Lucien Jonas, Galanis, Lebedeff, etc. Some discolouration on the covers. - Naval Warfare as Told by Our Admirals. Paris, Librairie Schwarz, 1927. 5 vols. large quarto. Publisher’s binding, half-basane with corner pieces, spine decorated with gilt fillets. Numerous black-and-white and colour illustrations and maps: 24 portraits of admirals and 176 stencil-enhanced drawings, including 168 by C. Fouqueray and 8 by J. L. Paguenaud.
