Paris: Martz, [1868]. - In-12, 198 x 116: frontispiece, (3 ff. first blank), 70 pp. (2 ff. last blank), 3 plates, printed cover. Dark brown jansenist morocco, spine ribbed, gilt lettering to last box, 7 gilt fillets inside, double endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, cover preserved (Paul Vié).
First edition, illustrated with wood-engraved vignettes in the text after drawings by Félix Régamey, inspired by compositions from various Japanese albums, as well as 4 chromolithographs out of text representing 10 enamels, executed by Régamey père after cloisonné enamels from the jeweller Martz.
A precious copy on China paper from the author's library, with his gilt cipher on the spine.
This is the second known copy on china paper, after the very precious one also from the author's collection, decorated with enamels and enriched with 10 original gouaches, now in the Musée des Arts décoratifs.
A fine copy bound in the period by Paul Vié, very well preserved.
