Sought-after first edition of the only collection of poems by Tristan Corbière (1845-1875), published on a self-publishing basis and comprising almost all of his work.
Discovered by Verlaine, Corbière lived a brief life in Brittany, marked by tuberculosis, single, childless and unemployed. He is one of the so-called "poètes maudits". His book is dedicated to his father, Édouard Corbière, the famous author of maritime novels.
There were 490 copies of this edition, illustrated with an etched self-portrait on the frontispiece.
One of 481 copies on Hollande, well bound.
