First edition of this collection of piano scores composed by Claude Terrasse (1867-1923).
The work comprises 15 familiar pieces and 4 humorous pieces, illustrated with 20 original black lithographs by Pierre Bonnard - one of which adorns the cover, while the others introduce each score.
This highly sought-after book marks a major milestone in Bonnard's career, as it is the very first work he illustrated. In it, the artist, Claude Terrasse's brother-in-law, displays a style that is both poetic and intimate, already foreshadowing the genius that would characterise his later work.
The edition was printed in a small number, but it is not known exactly how many copies there were.
A perfectly preserved copy, bound by Alix.
A few scattered foxes, not serious.
