Superb and rare almanac published by the Austrian playwright, novelist and poet Max Mell (1882-1971). The texts are signed by authors such as Hedda Sauer, Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Anton Wildgans, Raoul Auernheimer, Peter Altenberg, Rainer Maria Rilke, Franz Blei, Arthur Roessler and many others.
This work is emblematic of the Wiener Werkstätte, or Viennese Workshop, an arts and crafts movement founded in Vienna in 1903. This movement is renowned for its integrated approach to art and design, aimed at combining aesthetics and functionality.
The illustration includes 12 plates reproducing, in black and colour on coated paper, works by emblematic artists of this movement, such as Josef Hoffmann, Gustav Klimt, Carl Otto Czeschka, Koloman Moser, Moritz Jung, Oskar Kokoschka, Bertold Löffler and Albert Paris Gütersloh.
