Description
DINET (Étienne).
Set of two pieces of chased and painted leather by Étienne Dinet.
Two pieces of leather in tan calf (168 × 112 mm), very rare and of great interest, each decorated with a chased and painted illustration, signed by the famous orientalist painter Étienne DINET (1861-1929).
These compositions, probably designed for a bookbinding, depict a young nude Oriental woman and three children at play, in a style close to that of the works reproduced in the book Mirages (1906).
Each piece is framed with a gilded fillet and a dark green morocco band, then inlaid in the centre of thick cardboard covered with marbled paper (300 × 212 mm).
Copies perfectly preserved.
