Paris: Marcel Seheur, 1926. - In-4, 285 x 235 : 202 pp, (3 ff. last two blank), printed cover. Dark green half-chagrin with corners, gilt fillets, ribbed spine, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved, edged slipcase (P. Larrive).
Highly sought-after deluxe edition of the collection of short stories De Goupil à Margot by Louis Pergaud (1882-1915), published in 1910 by Mercure de France and awarded the Prix Goncourt the same year.
The book features a gallery of animals: Goupil the fox, Fuseline the weasel, Nyctalette the mole, Guerriot the squirrel, Margot the magpie, and many others. This edition is distinguished by its sumptuous illustrations, with more than 100 compositions (in the text or full-page), coloured by the artist's brush.
Limited edition of 171 copies on Arches vellum, of which we know that only around 70 were actually coloured by the artist.

It has been enriched with 8 original drawings by the artist, some signed, placed opposite pages 5, 28, 40, 44, 114, 140, 182 and at the end.
