COMMEMORATIVE SABRE presented by the sergeant majors of the 4th Zouave Regiment to their comrade SIMIOT.
Horn hilt (filigree missing). Brass mountings, single-branch openwork guard, 1855-type. 1882-type blade with a fuller, engraved ‘A SOUVENIR FROM THE SERGEANT-MAJORS OF THE 4th ZOUAVES TO THEIR COMRADE SIMIOT 8 NOVEMBER 1899’.

Martin Charles Alphonse SIMIOT, born on 14 July 1864 in Marseille, residing at 67 Rue du Cherche-Midi in 1903. He is recorded as having performed in ‘L’amazone’ with his regiment in Algiers on 24 December 1876.
