BATAILLE (Georges). Signed autograph letter addressed to Julien Gracq. Vézelay, 19 March 1947. 2 pages, small quarto, on *Critique* letterhead, with envelope. Georges Bataille is pleased to have published Gracq’s article in his journal *Critique*, and hopes to publish others as well as short reviews of books: the journal will always be open to studies as interesting as the one you sent us. I might even add, on a personal note, that it struck me as touching on a truly important point that is often overlooked. He announces that Jean Laude is to publish a study of your literary work to mark the publication of your latest book. I should hope that it will do justice to an endeavour as engaging as your own …
