Description
BATAILLE (Georges). *Le Bleu du ciel*. Paris: Jean-Jacques Pauvert, 1957. In-12, paperback. First edition. A touching autograph dedication by Georges Bataille to his psychiatrist, Dr Adrien Borel (1886–1966), subtly echoing the previous dedication in *L’Alléluïah*: To Dr Adrien Borel, in memory of a despair, affectionately, Georges Bataille. Dr Borel was one of the founders of the Paris Psychoanalytic Society, the first psychoanalytic association in France. His work with Dr Borel was of paramount importance to Bataille’s writing. At the end of the analysis, the two men remained very close. Written in a moment of rage, as Bataille would say in 1935, this novel was not published until twenty-two years later, with a few revisions. A subscription form for *Le Bleu du Ciel* is enclosed.
