CREVEL (René). Détours. Paris, Éditions de la Nouvelle Revue Française, 1924. In-12, paperback. First edition, featuring a portrait of the author by Eugène Maccown, wood-engraved by G. Aubert. Copy bound in numbered imitation vellum. First autograph dedication: ‘To Madame Bousquet, with best regards from René Crevel’. Followed by a second autograph dedication: ‘Madame Bousquet has become La Bousquette, La Marie-Louise, etc… and how could I have been so careless as to give her such a foolish first dedication?’ This autograph correction bears witness to the close bond between Crevel and Marie-Louise Bousquet (1885–1975), a journalist at Harper’s Bazaar and renowned salon hostess, whose circle was one of the principal social hubs of the Parisian avant-garde.
