DESNOS (Robert). *The Night of Loveless Nights*. Antwerp, n.p., 1930. In-4, paperback. First edition illustrated with three full-page compositions by the Surrealist painter Georges Malkine.
A signed autograph dedication by the author in pencil to Lucy Schwob, known as Claude Cahun, a socially engaged artist associated with the Surrealist movement: ‘To Claude Schwob. This book is rather sombre for such a fine day. With warmest regards, Robert Desnos, 21 February 1930.’
This long, lyrical and heart-rending poem on solitude was included in the collection *Fortunes* in 1942.
