Description
DESNOS (Robert). *Les Sans cou*. Paris, n.p., 1934. In-8, paperback. First edition, featuring an original etching by André Masson as the frontispiece. This collection of poetry was reprinted in 1942 in *Fortunes*. One of 113 copies numbered and signed by the author and the illustrator; this is one of 90 printed on Navarre-dyed pure-fibre vellum containing the frontispiece. An autograph letter signed by the author, dated 2 August 1934: ‘To Marie Lalou, in the hope that the lark will sing its cheerful song for her every morning…’ It is embellished with a drawing of a bird in black ink (6 x 8 cm). The copy is accompanied by a signed autograph letter from the author to the dedicatee, 1 p., in-8, in black ink: Dear Madam, Your letter has a hint of ‘Marie Laurencin’ about it… Here is the book…
