Inscription in graphite on the flyleaf: ‘Maurice Fourré, 23 quai Gambetta, Angers’. Autograph dedication signed in blue pencil on the title page: ‘To Mr André Breton, as a token of admiration and respect, from the bottom of my heart. Paris, 8 February 1949, Maurice Fourré’. *La Nuit du Rose-Hôtel* is the first work in Gallimard’s ‘Révélation’ collection, the editorship of which was entrusted to André Breton, who wrote the book’s preface.
