Description
FREYDIER. A Plea by Mr Freydier, a lawyer in Nîmes, against the ban on padlocks, or chastity belts. A verbatim reprint based on the original 1750 edition, with an additional foreword by Philonneste the Younger. Paris, published by Jules Gay, 1863. In-12, red half-maroquin with corner pieces, decorated spine, gilt head (contemporary binding). Edition comprising two illustrations at the end of the volume and enhanced with a folding plate bound at the beginning of the work: ‘How I pity you! You will be well-behaved,’ Le Cadenas by Moreau, engraved by Simonet.
