Description
HUGNET (Georges). *Le Droit de varech*. Preceded by *Le Muet ou les secrets de la vie*. Paris, Éditions de la Montagne, 1930. In-8, paperback, untrimmed, illustrated cover. First edition. One of 400 copies on Alfa paper, featuring an autograph dedication signed by the author: ‘To Man Ray, because he knows what goes on within crystals and flints, and what objects do when we are no longer there.’ His friend Georges Hugnet. Bound by Surrealism and a genuine artistic friendship, Man Ray and Georges Hugnet collaborated closely in the 1930s, particularly on photographic portraiture and avant-garde publishing. Man Ray also designed the cover of the first issue of *L’Usage de la Parole*, the journal founded by Georges Hugnet in December 1939. Scattered foxing, a few tears along the spine, but no pages missing.
