Description
MASSOT (Pierre de). DS. Alès, PAB, 1967. Small oblong in-32, loose-leaf, with a lined half-leather binding. First edition adorned with a double-page colour copperplate engraving by Jacques Hérold. One of 24 hand-numbered copies (10/24), this one signed by the artist and the publisher. A writer associated with Dada and later a fellow traveller of Surrealism, Pierre de Massot (1900–1969) is best remembered for having his arm broken by André Breton during the tumultuous ‘Cœur à barbe’ soirée in 1923, an episode symbolising the split between the Dadaists and the Surrealists.
