MICHAUX (Henri). Fables des origines. Brussels, Éditions du Disque Vert, n.d. [1923]. In-12, chocolate-coloured half-box Bradel binding, spine inscribed with title, printed paper covers, plain spine, dust jacket, slipcase (Leroux, 1994). First edition of Henri Michaux’s second book, of which no large-format edition was printed. A copy belonging to Unica Zurn bearing an autograph letter from Michaux addressed to her, 1 page in-8, envelope preserved: ‘It’s all tears. It’s raining; we shall no longer see yours… A strange prescription requested of a strange doctor.’ A true one would no doubt say ‘carry on, go on a weeping cure, 2 days, 8 days, to your heart’s content; you’ve been holding back for far too long.’ A remarkable letter, in the form of a prescription from Michaux to his friend Unica Zürn. The letter is torn; perhaps this was the result of a moment of temper? Tear in the letter with a fragment preserved.
