Description
NERUDA (Pablo). *Canto general*. Mexico, published by the author, 1950. Folio, red cloth, printed endpapers, untrimmed, paper dust jacket (publisher’s binding). First edition of Pablo Neruda’s seminal work. The endpapers feature works by Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros. A special edition limited to 500 numbered copies; this is one of the 300 intended for subscribers, printed on Malinche paper and signed by Neruda, Rivera and Siqueiros (no. 158). Only these 300 copies bear their signatures. The end of the book contains the list of subscribers. Among the seven French subscribers are the names of Louis Aragon, Paul Éluard, Fernand Léger and Pablo Picasso. Stain marks on the edges. Creases, small tears and missing sections on the dust jacket.
