PRINNER (Anton). *La Femme tondue*. Paris, APR, 1946. In-12, loose sheets, uncut, in a cover. First edition. One of the first 100 copies on Marais Crèvecœur vellum (no. 1), adorned with 8 unpublished hors-texte etchings and engravings, numbered 28/150 and signed by Prinner. Autograph copy signed by the author and sent to his publisher, Robert Godet. Captivated by the artist’s esoteric world, he commissioned her to create the monumental *Book of the Dead of the Ancient Egyptians* in 1948, illustrated with engravings by Prinner, before publishing *Signes* the following year, thereby cementing a collaboration that proved pivotal to the artist’s career. Anton Prinner (1902–1983), born Anna Prinner in Budapest, moved to Paris in 1928, where she gradually adopted a male identity under the first name Anton. In *La Femme tondue*, she explores the fate of women who had their heads shaved following the Liberation. Here, Prinner offers a reflection on identity and the gaze of others, themes that run through her entire body of work and echo her own personal history. The cover is slightly yellowed, with small tears along the edges of the spine and on one page.
