One of 90 copies printed on pure-fibre vellum, the only large-format paper used, and the only copies to feature an original engraving by Hans Bellmer as the frontispiece.
This sadomasochistic tale by Catherine Rstakian, published under the pseudonym Jean de Berg, is inspired by *Histoire d’O* and dedicated to its author, Pauline Réage. The preface, mischievously signed with the initials P. R., is by Alain Robbe-Grillet, whom Catherine Rstakian would marry the following year.
The book was published in a limited edition – 790 copies plus a few non-commercial copies – and sold untrimmed. It was, however, seized by the authorities and part of the print run destroyed.
