Pieter Brueghel the Elder (after) (c. 1525–c. 1569)
Insidiosus Auceps (The Treacherous Bird-Catcher). (One of a series of 12 large landscapes). c. 1553–1556. Etching and chiselling by Jan and Lucas van Doetecum. 430 x 314 mm. Lebeer 5; Hollstein 10; New Hollstein (Bruegel) 53. A fine print on thin laid paper, trimmed outside the square line and complete with the title block. A vertical drying crease down the centre. A few scattered foxing spots. A large oblique tear along the upper left-hand edge, filled in on the reverse. Another small loss in the lower right-hand corner, filled in on the reverse.
