Pieter Brueghel the Elder (after) (c. 1525–c. 1569)
Pagus Nemorosus (Wooded Site). (Plate from a series of 12 large landscapes). c. 1553–1556. Etching and engraving by Jan and Lucas van Doetecum. 426 x 300 mm. Lebeer 11; Hollstein 16; New Hollstein (Bruegel) 57. A fine print on thin laid paper, trimmed to a square edge, without the title block. Light foxing. Vertical centre crease with small fractures previously restored on the reverse. Creases and curling at the edges. Traces of glue in the corners on the reverse (the lower left corner has been re-glued). A small area of paper loss in the branches on the right, forming a white spot. A small tear in the cloud on the left.
