CHRYSOLOGUE DE GY (1728–1808). Known as Father Chrysologue, a Capuchin friar, astronomer and cartographer. Copperplate engraving, laid paper, late 18th century, titled ‘Boreal celestial planisphere projected onto the plane of the equator, with the approval and under the privilege of the Royal Academy of Sciences / dedicated and presented to the King by the Reverend Father Chrysologue de Gy, of Franche-Comté, a Capuchin, 1778, 100 x 68 cm. Stains, creases, tears at the edges and reinforcements on the reverse.
