Some proofs are yellowed, with some spotting and/or wetness, but overall in good condition. Binding from the time, breaks along the hinges, and some defects on the boards. The copy bears an unidentified bookplate.
The engravings reproduce the famous allegorical cycle painted by Rubens between 1622 and 1625 for the Galerie du Palais du Luxembourg in Paris, at the request of Marie de Médicis, widow of Henri IV. This cycle, comprising 24 paintings, celebrates the life of the queen in the form of mythological and political allegories. The originals are now in the Musée du Louvre.
