Folded fan, the double skin sheet painted with three young fisherwomen by the river, surrounded by numerous sweethearts.
Signed and dated on the left "Chaplin 1877" for the painter Charles Chaplin (1825-1891).
The reverse bears the date "17 January 1878" in a label, and a second label indicating its provenance "Painted and offered /by Chaplin/ to /his pupil Nicole/ d'Audiffret-Pasquier/ Bnne de/ Neverlée". In the centre, the coats of arms of the couple. Nicole d'Audiffret-Pasquier (1858-1937) married Philippe de Néverlée, baron de Néverlée (1848-1891) in Paris in January 1878.
