JEAN Auguste (1829–1896). Carafe, circa 1874–1880. Body in ‘moonlight’ blue baryte crystal, free-blown and hand-finished. Four-legged base, flared neck, handle and teardrop in amethyst crystal, hot-soldered. Stopper in amethyst and “moonlight blue” crystal. Floral decoration painted with enamels and raised gold, fixed in the muffle. Total height approximately: 23 cm. Signed A.Jean. Very good condition. Auguste Jean’s brief career as a glassmaker (lasting around fifteen years) is associated with a pre-Art Nouveau style characterised by the strange and surprising, both in the forms and the decorations he employed – VAT recoverable - This item can be delivered to your door anywhere in mainland France from €14.04 and throughout Europe from €24.00
