Set of 7 colourful embroidered fabric patches depicting the badges for each Mercury mission, plus a badge specially dedicated to astronaut Alan Shepard, the first American in space on 5 May 1961. - Alan Shepard (the first American in space) Mercury 3–Freedom 7 mission: 5 May 1961 - Gus Grissom, Mercury Redstone-4 mission (21 July 1961) - John Glenn, Mercury Atlas-6 mission (20 February 1962) - Scott Carpenter, Mercury Atlas-7 mission (24 May 1962) - Walter Schirra, Mercury Atlas-8 mission (3 October 1962) - Gordon Cooper, Mercury Atlas-9 mission (15 May 1963) - Badges of various sizes, ranging from 6 to 10 cm. Two coloured round pins, 9 cm in diameter, are also included: one featuring a portrait of John Glenn wearing his astronaut’s helmet, with the inscription: ‘America’s first orbital space man, astronaut John Glenn’; and the other, a photograph of the seven Mercury astronauts in their spacesuits, with the inscription: ‘Original 7 astronauts, Project Mercury’.
