- Two days before the launch (13 May): Dr Howard Minners of the Houston Space Centre (Texas) examines Cooper’s nose and throat. Vintage NASA black-and-white print (20cm x 25cm) with a caption on the back, bearing the number 63-MA9-117.
-The day before the launch (15 May). From left to right in the photo: Donald Slayton (Director of Astronauts), astronauts Gordon Cooper and Walter Schirra, and Dr Minners, toasting the success of the forthcoming mission.
