Set of 8 black-and-white photographs, 20 x 25 cm: . - 1 colour photograph (20 x 25) of Surveyor - 1 black-and-white JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) drawing (22 x 28 cm) of Surveyor 1 on card stock with captions. -1 black-and-white photograph, 20 x 25 cm, of a Surveyor vernier rocket being assembled, with a caption from the ‘Hughes Aircraft Company’ on the reverse. The Hughes Aircraft Company (Los Angeles) was the manufacturer of the Surveyor probes - 1 artist’s impression of Surveyor 1 (by Carlos Lopez) on the Moon, with a ‘Hughes Aircraft Company’ caption on the reverse. The image is captioned and numbered 0665-S41787. -1 double black-and-white photograph of a ‘moon landing’ test on Earth involving a Surveyor prototype. SURVEYOR PROGRAMME – The programme comprised seven Surveyor probes (30 May 1966 to 20 February 1968). Surveyor 1 was the first American probe to land on the Moon. In total, five Surveyor probes landed on the Moon and transmitted some 86,326 images and data from our satellite (Surveyor 1, 3, 5, 6 and 7). However, Surveyor 2 and 4 crashed on the Moon.
